Course Description:
Create a lovely vessel or bowl using colorful wool roving, yarn, and pieces of shimmery viscose! Through the wet felting process, we will turn light and fluffy wool into beautiful and sturdy felt shaped vessels. Learn how the felting process originated and the many ways people around the world work with and use felt!
You can even customize your vessel shape. I’ll also show you how to add decorative elements to your interior/exterior surfaces. Inspiration and samples will be provided to spark your creativity!
Quality Merino wool and all supplies are included in the fee. Participants are also welcome to bring additional bits of 100% natural yarn/fiber to include in their artwork.

Instructor: Sue Fox Mitrano
An artist working in many mediums, Sue Fox Mitrano currently creates Shibori textiles, Wet Felted vessels and table runners as well as nature-inspired linocut prints. Her hand-dyed silk, cotton and bamboo scarves and home goods are made with traditional Shibori techniques as well as original designs.
Sue’s childhood love of sewing and exploration in fiber arts led her to discover Wet Felting about 10 years ago. The process of turning soft colorful wool into beautiful and sturdy felt further satisfies her love of texture and pattern and creating wet felt vessels feels a bit like sculpting clay, another favorite medium.
Sue is also a certified K-12 Art Teacher with a BFA in Graphic Design from Syracuse University and a BA in Art Education at The College of NJ, teaching in area public and private schools. She has been teaching children and adults at art centers in NJ and Pennsylvania for over 15 years.
